S&P Futures are trading slightly higher this morning, but the markets are dealing with multiple negative catalysts this morning. Rising Covid-19 cases in China, coupled with worries over the Ukraine war and a possible interest-rate increase by the Federal Reserve this week all have the potential to disrupt the markets today. Oil prices tumbled below $100 a barrel to levels not seen since before the Russian invasion of Ukraine three weeks ago, as investors reassessed the huge run-up in prices seen in recent weeks. Major airlines are reporting positive data this morning from an industry conference.

S&P Futures are displaying a move higher this morning in hopes of a ceasefire between Russia & Ukraine. Oil futures are lower by more than 3% as global demand may be weakening due to a Covid outbreak in China. The FOMC announcement on Wednesday will clearly be the economic data highlight of the week. Geopolitical events in Russia and China's surging Covid rates may cause the Fed to display a more dovish tone on Wednesday as the Powell-led Fed wants to become more nimble. Gitlab Inc. and Vail Resorts Inc. are among the companies reporting earnings today.

S&P Futures are trading lower and European markets are selling off this morning as the Ukraine Russia talks ended without a cease-fire agreement. This morning we have an ECB announcement on monetary policy and two important economic reports, Jobless claims and the CPI. The CPI report will be watched vary closes and expectations are for another hot reading. After the close yesterday, AMZN announced plans for a 20-1 stock split along with a 10b stock buyback.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning ahead of a key Ukraine Russia meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Turkey. Ukraine's president told a media outlet that he is no longer pressing for NATO membership, which was one of the key reasons for the Russian invasion. President Joe Biden is set to sign an executive order that will direct the federal government to come up with a plan to regulate cryptocurrencies. Today's economics calendar includes a release on job openings and the official oil stockpiles report from the EIA.

S&P Futures turned to trade lower this morning as bond yields and oil prices move higher. The recent price action in commodities has increased the prospected of slower global growth which is causing central banks to reconsider increasing interest rates. Earlier today China's president join a call with the leaders of France and Germany and called for "maximum Restraint" in the Russia Ukraine conflict. He went on to say that the three countries should jointly support please talks. Before the bell today, the key economic report being released is International Trade in Goods and Services.

S&P Futures are continuing to push lower this morning. U.S. futures are following global equity indexes lower as Russian forces have intensified strikes across Ukraine. News reports of a possible ban on imports of Russian oil has caused energy and minerals stocks to soar this morning. BBBY's major investor has sent a letter to the board seeking strategic alternatives. European indexes have bounced off their earlier lows but remain weak.

Media reports that the fire has been contained, but Russia's continued march through Ukraine is keeping the markets on alert. This morning we have the monthly Non-Farms payroll report being released 1 hour before the market opens.

S&P Futures are edging higher this morning while crude oil prices continue to surge as refiners balked at buying Russian oil. Russia’s foreign minister said that talks would resume with Ukraine today even as his country’s forces press ahead with their offensive. This morning on the economic calendar we have Jobless Claims, the Q4 revised non-farm productivity and unit labor costs, and the final services PMI for February. Powell will be speaking in front of the Senate Banking Committee today. Yesterday, Powell said he would propose a quarter-percentage point rate increase at the central bank's meeting in two weeks. Markets remain on edge and is closely monitoring the Russia Ukraine conflict.

S&P Futures are displaying gains this morning. The market is reacting to news that Ukraine and Russia will be meeting later today to negotiate a possible end of hostilities. Jerome Powell will be on Capitol Hill today and will likely stick to his plan of a rate hike later this month. Energy prices continue to surge higher as global organizations are avoiding the delivery of Russian oil. There is an OPEC+ meeting today and they are likely to continue with a production quota increase of 40k bpd. President Joe Biden delivered an optimistic State of the Union speech on Tuesday, saying that America is "stronger today than we were a year ago," even as war rages on in Eastern Europe and concerns about inflation linger domestically. This morning we have the ADP employment report on tap for release. In the afternoon, we have earnings due out from SNOW, SPLK, PSTG, VSCO, CHPT AEO and more.
