S&P Futures are flat to lower this morning. The recent bout of volatility should start to lessen as the market has had time to digest the recent FOMC statement on monetary policy. This is a big week for earnings announcements with many high-profile companies set to report this week. In the week ahead we have a variety of key economic reports due including the monthly job data on Friday. Citrix Systems is near a deal to be sold for $104 a share to Elliott Management and Vista Equity Partners.

S&P Futures are indicating a lower opening this morning. Apple's and Visa's positive earning results are being negated by the CVX miss on EPS estimates and surging costs at CAT. This morning markets will be paying attention to this morning to the Employment Cost Index release. This is a key inflation reading and one that Fed Chair Jerome Powell has cited. Elevated inflation levels are and this morning drop in European markets are likely to cause weakness in the S&P's this morning.

S&P Futures are indicating a higher opening and the FANG stocks are all trading higher this morning. There are multiple factors at work today. The market continues to be sensitive to yesterday's hawkish comments from the Fed. Tensions remain elevated on the Russian - Ukraine situation. We have a host of key economic readings this morning and after the bell today we have earnings reports due out from AAPL, CE, MDLZ & V.

S&P Futures are showing solid gains this morning ahead of the bell. MSFT delivered a strong eps report and the stock's initial weakness has turned, MSFT is now higher by 5%. The key economic event today will occur at 2:00 p.m. ET when the Fed makes its announcement on monetary policy. Expectations are for the Fed to indicate a 1/4 point increase in interest rates is likely to occur in its next meeting. The next FOMC meeting is in March. A key market-moving item from today's announcement will likely be any comments related to the shrinking of the central banks $8.87 trillion balance sheet.

S&P Futures have continued to move lower all morning long. Today is the start of the two-day FOMC meeting and the market remains volatile due to concerns that the Fed intentions will result in negative implications for the markets. Today we have the Case Shiller Home Price index for November being released as well as earnings reports from a host of major companies. JNJ, RTX & XRX delivered eps beats but missed on revenue estimates.

S&P Futures remain weak this morning and the markets are concerned about earnings being released this week, Russian tensions, and this week's Fed meeting. The retail sector is benefitting from another possible bidder for Kohl's department stores. The Fed meeting is truly going to be this week's catalyst event. Talk of a 50 basis point rate increase, which is causing market volatility is highly unlikely and Powell will likely confirm that in this week's press conference.

S&P Futures are lower this morning in cautious pre-market trading. The market is digesting the weaker opening in Europe and the 20% drop in NFLX this morning. NFLX shares are tumbling due to growth concerns and is creating weakness in the market including the FANG sector this morning. Activity in the 10 year Treasury is muted this morning. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will be speaking today.

S&P Futures remain cautious this morning but a higher opening is expected. Key events for today include the release of Jobless Claims and Existing Home sales. Earnings reports scheduled today from AAL, TRV, CSX and NFLX. New reports that President Biden expects that Russia will follow through on an invasion of Ukraine is creating nervousness in the markets this morning. Dow and Nasdaq futures are showing gains this morning.

S&P Futures are moving higher this morning. This morning we have another economic report on housing and plenty of earnings to watch. Bank of America delivered a 6 cent beat on lower revenue this morning. This afternoon, there are earning reports due out from AA, DFS, FUL & UAL. The yield on the 2-year Treasury note, which is more sensitive to Federal Reserve policy expectations, rose another 2 basis points to 1.055%. Oil continues to trade higher as the IEA predicted global oil demand will exceed pre-pandemic levels this year in its monthly report.
