S&P Futures are continuing to display muted price action this morning. The recent talks between President Trump and European leaders appear to have been positive which is reflected in the relative weakness in oil and defense stocks this morning. Shares of INTC are higher this morning as Softbank in making a $2B invest in the chip maker. SGBI is looking to merge its TV business with Tegna. Earnings announcements overnight were mainly positive as PANW & FN move higher. This morning HD is lower after its earnings miss. After the bill today KEYS & TOL will report and tomorrow morning TJX, ADI, LOW, TGT, EL & BIDU are scheduled to report.

S&P Futures are displaying some mild weakness this morning and are in need of a catalyst for direction. The key news event over the weekend was the Trump Putin summit. This afternoon, President Trump is expected to meet with European leaders including Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. The Fed's Jackson Hole event starts this week, Chairman Powell is scheduled to speak on Friday. Powell is likely to come across as dovish even though inflation and employment data have been sending mixed signals. Dayforce (DAY) shares are higher this morning due to takeover speculation. This is a key week for the retail sector with earnings announcements on tap from HD, WMT, TJX. TGT, ROST, LOW, BABA & BKE.

S&P Futures are positive this morning. There are a number of important economic data points due out in the pre market including Retail Sales and Import-Export prices. China's economic data overnight came in weaker than expected. The Trump Putin summit is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm ET today. UNH is seeing strong gains this morning as Berkshire Hathaway announced a stake. Their 13F also disclosed new positions in DHI, NUE, & ALLE. There was chatter overnight that the Trump Administration is consider a stake in INTC. Next week the Fed will be releasing the Fed Minutes from the recent FOMC meeting and Fed Chair Jerome Powell will be speaking at the Jackson Hole event on Friday. AMAT released positive earning last night, but their guidance was weak. Next week's earnings are expected from, HD, WMT, TGT, TGX, WSM, EL M & ROST.

S&P Futures are slightly lower this morning. This morning there are two important economic data points set for release, The PPI report and Weekly Jobless Claims. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that that there was a good changes that the Fed will lower rates by 50 basis points at their meeting next month. While a 50 basis point cut is possible, it would likely need another weak Non Farms payrolls report. President Trump signed an Executive Order to accelerate rocket launches to encourage space travel. President Trump is scheduled to speak today at 1:00 pm. In earnings news JD, BIRK & VIPS are higher after releases, CSCO, DE, NICE & TPR are lower. After the bell today, AMAT, SNDK & STRZ are expected to report.

S&P Futures are extending their gains from yesterday as the market continues to feed off of Tuesday milder than expected CPI report. The economic calendar is light today, PPI data is due out tomorrow. Expectations for a Fed rate cut in Sept are nearing 100%. Markets are going to be looking for clues in relation to the upcoming U.S. Russian talks over a Ukraine peace accord. Next week's Jackson Hole summit will soon be in focus as markets look to hear dovish commentary from Fed Chair Powell. Trump's pick to lead the BLS floats the idea of suspending the Non Farm Payrolls report. In corporate news, Spirt Airlines warns that they may not be able to continue operations if their financial picture does not improve soon. Disney does a deal with Webtoon. In earnings news, LITE & EAT are higher after releases, CAVA, CRWV are lower. After the bell today, CSCO & COHR are expected to report.

S&P Futures are flat to lower this morning in cautious trading ahead of this morning's inflation report. If the CPI report comes in hot, it will likely lessen the odds of a September rate cut by the Fed. President Trump extended the current trade agreement with China yesterday. He also nominated E.J. Antoni as head of the BLS. His nomination has drawn mixed reaction, critics question the rigor, accuracy, and neutrality of his economic work due to perceived political bias. Expectations are being lowered on a possible Ukraine peace deal, talks are now being described as a "feel out meeting". In deal news, Cardinal Health is set acquire Solaris Health for $1.9B. In earnings news, GDOT, ONON &PONY are higher after release, CE is lower. Micron raised its guidance yesterday. After the bell today, CRWV, CAVA, HRB & RGTI are expected to report.

S&P Futures are displaying slight gains this morning as we head into an important week for the markets. The key near term catalyst is the trade deal with China that is set to expire tomorrow. Markets are expecting for the White House will extend the current trade agreement. On Friday, President Trump will be holding talks with Russian President Putin on a potential end to the hostilities in the Ukraine. On the economic front, Inflation data releases will be key this week. Tomorrow CPI will set the tone for a possible rate cut in September. Intel's CEO is schedule to meet with President Trump today as he called for his resignation last week. President Trump is expected to hold a press conference today at 10:00 am ET on law enforcement in DC. NVIDIA and AMD have agreed to pay the U.S. government 15% of their revenue from sales of certain AI chips to China as a condition for securing export licenses. Economic calendar is light today. S&P Futures are displaying positive action this morning as the Trump tariffs went into effect overnight. Trade talks with other countries continue. The White House agreed to cease the stacking of tariffs on Japan. The China agreement is set to expire next week. India is said to be open to reducing oil imports from Russia as part of a tariff settlement. Late yesterday, President Trump nominated Stephen Miran, the current chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, to fill a temporary vacancy on the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors. The anticipation of a Trump Putin meeting to end the conflict in Ukraine continues to have a positive effect on markets sentiment. Antitrust officials in the U.K. effectively cleared Boeing's plan to acquire Spirit AeroSystems Holdings. Eli Lilly's weight-loss pill produced underwhelming results. Economic calendar is light today; the next key report is the CPI data that is due out on Tuesday. S&P Futures are displaying strong gains this morning as markets adjust to a host of new catalysts. Multiple Fed officials spoke yesterday and indicated developing concerns with the labor market which is increasing expectations for a rate cut in September. The BOE is expected to announce a rate cut this morning. President Trump is expected to meet in person with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as next week. He also plans to follow up with a meeting involving both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shortly thereafter. These meetings are intended to negotiate a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict In corporate news, AAPL unveiled a major investment in the U.S. at the White House yesterday, President Trump indicated that tech companies that invest in the U.S. will avoid his new 100% tariff plan on semiconductors. Jobless Claims data is due out this morning and will be widely watch after last week's weakening Non-Farms Payrolls report. DUOL, UPWK, DASH, DKNG, TKO are higher after earnings releases, ABNB, YETI, JOBY, MET & Z are lower. S&P Futures are higher this morning as markets focus on the latest corporate earnings results. President Trump is expected make an announcement today, yesterday, he indicated that he would be announcing a replacement for Fed Gov Krugler this week. Special Envoy Witkoff is in Russia for discussion on a possible resolution to the Ukraine war. Trade negotiations with China, India, the European Union, Switzerland and others remain active ahead of Thursday's deadline.
