S&P Futures are showing gains this morning with positive action in autos, banks, drugs and tech. The key economic data point for today will be the ISM Manufacturing index which is due out after the opening bell. U.S. Steel (X) is falling, Indications that Biden will announce that his is blocking their merger with Nippon Steel. Carvana shares are weakening after a negative report from Hindenburg Reseach. Gains are Constellation Energy (CEG) as the firms won more than $1B in government contracts. Defense stocks are higher after yesterday's selling pressure which was due to Chinese sanctions. European shares are lower this morning and oil prices are falling in the pre-market.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning with tech shares displaying strong gains. The key economic data point for today will be the Jobless claims which is due out before the opening bell. TSLA is expected to release its sales data today. On Friday, Congress votes on whether or not Mike Johnson remains speaker. Next week the annual CES show in Las Vegas gets underway. European markets are trading lower mainly due to PMI data. Oil prices are higher in the pre-market with demand expectations out of China for 2025 are causing prices to rise.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning as tech shares are displaying gains in the last trading session of the year. Bond markets close at 2:00 pm, but it is a regular session for equities. Chinese retailing stocks are higher as China's president says the country has hit its 5% growth target for 2024. Shares of TSLA are on watch as it is expected to release 4Q production figures later this week. The recent plane crash in South Korean is highlighting a debate on the designs of airports. In Congress, a house speaker vote is scheduled for Friday, Johnson is expected to remain speaker. European markets are trading higher. Oil prices are higher in the pre-market due to the PMI data out of China.

Shares of Boeing are being hit hard this morning after a plane crash in South Korea, the plane was a 2009, 737-800 jet and the landing gear appears not to have been deployed. European markets are mixed to lower Oil prices are flat to lower in the pre-market.

S&P Futures are trading lower and in a tight trading range, volumes are thin. Weakness is on display in virtually all sectors this morning, except for the quantum stocks which are displaying strong gains. Streaming services (NFLX & DIS) report positive viewership for holiday sporting events. Mastercard says holiday spending increase 3.8% with strength in apparel and restaurants. Grid Dynamics (GDYN) to be added to the S&P 600 on Thursday Jan 2nd. European markets are mainly higher. Oil prices are displaying gains in the pre-market.

S&P Futures are trading lower this morning in light volume. The majority of exchanges are closed today and there is a lack of catalyst likely to occur today. The key economic report today will be the data on Jobless Claims for last week. Markets are expecting the number to come in at 225k which is slightly higher than last week's 220k reading. A trade group representing the major banks sued the Federal Reserve on Tuesday over a lack of transparency on stress tests. Oil prices are ticking higher in the pre-market.

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. referred the decision on the proposed buyout of U.S. Steel by Nippon Steel to President Biden. Netflix sues Broadcom's VMware over violation of patent rights Banks are higher and airline stocks are on watch this morning. Equity markets to close at 1:00 pm today. In Europe stocks showing gains, Germany is close, France & U.K. markets have a shortened trading session today. Oil prices are ticking higher in the pre-market.

S&P Futures are trading slightly lower this morning in light volume. This morning after the market opens the Consumer Confidence report is scheduled for release. On Saturday morning, President Biden signed a continuing resolution bill on the debt ceiling which prevented a shutdown. Honda and Nissan said that they have a merger agreement in place. Xerox to buy Lenox. Equity markets will have a 1/2 day on Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday. In Europe stocks trading lower in a light trading session. Oil prices are ticking lower in the pre-market.

S&P Futures are displaying significant weakness this morning. This morning there are a couple of negative catalysts causing markets to fall. The Trump backed budget bill failed to pass and the government faces a shutdown this weekend. Markets are also cautious ahead of this morning's inflation report which is expected to edge higher. Additional President -Elect Trump has issued tariff threats to the EU if they don't purchase more oil and gas from the U.S. Holiday periods can often result in larger than normal market swings. Shares of FDX are higher after earnings and a possible spinoff. NKE is lower after an EPS beat on weak forward guidance. The FDA removed LLY weight loss drug from its drug shortage list. In Europe stocks trading lower with autos, banks and mining stocks falling. Oil prices are falling in the pre-market with forward demand in question.

S&P Futures are positive this morning as market rebound from yesterday's selling pressure. Fed delivered a rate cut and lowered its forward guidance on rates, however the narrative from the fed was rather hawkish which caused heavy selling pressure. Congressional leaders budget deal is running into some stiff pushback from republican lawmakers. Earnings reports after the bell today from NKE & FDX. MU released forward guidance that disappointed the street. Shares of LW are under pressure this morning as company announced earnings along with a new CEO. Lennor (LII) will be joining the S&P 500 on Dec 23rd. Ticker BILL to replace LII in the S&P 400. In Europe stocks trading lower and oil prices are displaying slight losses in the pre-market.
