Major shippers are once again navigating through the Red Sea as the international maritime task force increase the safety of tanker traffic. No major economic reports due out today and the calendar is light for the reminder of the week. Next Wednesday, Jan 3rd the Fed will be releasing its meeting minutes and on Friday Jan 5th the Dec Non-Farms payroll data will be released. European markets are trading higher after being closed yesterday. Sentiment remains positive due to rate cut expectation from the Central Banks in 2024. Oil is prices are lower, giving back some of yesterday's big gains.

S&P Futures are flat to higher this morning with indications of positive opening. Volumes are expected to be light today and for the week ahead. In lieu of market news, the 2024 presidential election will be a key focus of the media outlets today. Overnight, China walked back its position on banning video games, which resulted in positive action in Chinese software stocks. Tensions in the Middle East remain elevated due to the possibility of hostilities on Israel's boarder with Lebanon. European markets are closed for Boxing Day. Oil is prices are slightly lower.

Retails stocks are showing weakness this morning after NKE earnings release, Nike lower guidance due to expected weakening consumer demand. European stocks are lower. S&P Futures are trading higher on broad-based gains early in pre-market. There are multiple economic reports being released today and tomorrow the November PCE data is scheduled for release. Micron delivered a better than expected earnings report last night, and after the bell today NKE is scheduled to report. Shares of Boeing are higher on reports that China will be allowing deliveries of the 737 to resume. European stocks are lower. Oil is prices are retreating after 3 days of gains.

S&P Futures are weakening this morning after a week long rally in equities. Fed Speakers continue their campaign to lower market expectations on the timing of a rate cut. Reports on Existing Home Sales and Consumer Confidence are due out this morning. FedEx is down over 11% after earnings. This afternoon earnings announcements are due out from MU & MLKN. European stocks are mostly higher on positive economic data. Oil is higher as transportation costs are said to be rising.

U.S. markets continue to decipher recent comments from Fed officials on the future path of interest rates. FedEx is scheduled to release earning after the bell today In Europe stocks are mixed to higher and awaiting a report on the EU inflation due out today. Oil prices are flat to lower as multiple countries are looking to work together to ensure the safety of tanker traffic in the Red Sea.

Fed Bank Presidents Bostic and Goolsbee echoed Friday's comments from New York Fed Williams over the weekend that no rate cuts are on the near term horizon. UBER, JBIL & BLDR are being added to the S&P 500 today. CDW, CCEP, DASH, MDB ROP & SPLK are being added to the NASD 100 today. Bank of Japan likely to forecast the end of negative interest rates at the conclusion of its monetary policy meeting the evening. In Europe stocks are mixed and oil price just reversed course and are now higher on the day.
