S&P Futures are relatively unchanged this morning. While the passage of the debt ceiling bill is a positive for the markets, it was only a temporary solution. The bill only funds the government through Nov 17th. The earnings calendar is light this week; earnings season is set to kick off a week from Friday. Auto workers strike continues with no real progress made over the weekend. In Europe, stocks have reversed course and are now trading lower with underperformance in Chemicals, staples and media sectors. Oil futures are pushing higher ahead of this week's OPEC meeting.

S&P Futures are displaying strength ahead of this morning's key economic report. Traders will be paying attention to the core figures as that is what the Fed uses when they determine policy. Nike stock if running this morning after releasing positive earning overnight. UAW likely to expand its strikes as they bargain for a new contract. Debt Ceiling bill remains stalled, shutdown will occur on Oct 1 is no deal is reached. In Europe, stocks are displaying strong gains higher. Oil futures are pushing higher.

S&P Futures are displaying a small gain this morning in the pre market, yet the possibility of additional weakness remains. Odds of a government shutdown are reported to be 90%. Estimates indicate that the shutdown could last 3 weeks. The UAW is said to be in continued discussions with the automakers, if no progress is mad additional strike will be announced tomorrow. In Europe, stocks have turned mostly higher, due to inflation readings Oil futures are fractionally lower awaiting a new catalyst.

S&P Futures are rebounding this morning. Key overnight news item was the release of Industrial profits data out of China which came in strong. The PBOC says the Chinese economy has increasing momentum and alluded to additional support measures. Debt ceiling bill talks remain stagnant, odds of a shutdown are raising. A government shut down will result in economic data & SEC filings not being released. In Europe, stocks are mostly higher, with tech, industrials, media and energy stocks gaining. Oil futures are display strong gains this morning as the news out of China is an indication that demand will remain strong.

S&P Futures are pushing lower this morning. Key catalyst this morning are the comments from Moody's about a possible credit downgrade due to the lack of effective government. Infighting in the republican party over leadership & the debt ceiling bill is putting Moody's credit rating on watch. The Auto works strike is entering its 12th day, without a resolution in sight. China's property sector is in a dire situation as Evergrande was unable to refinance its debt. In Europe, stocks are mostly lower. Oil futures falling due to economic concerns out of China.

S&P Futures are trader slightly lower this morning but are well off this morning earlier lows. Key factor today is the Chinese property sector as one of the major firms will likely be forced to liquidate. The Auto works strike continues without any progress over the weekend. Writers Guild struck a deal last night with movie and tv producers to end their strike. A governmental shutdown remains a possibility if no progress is made this week. Markets remain anxious and Friday's PCE data report will be a reoccurring topic this week. In Europe, the major indexes are lower. Oil futures are gaining this morning due to increased fuel demand out of China.

S&P Futures are trending lower this morning as the Fed's indicates that interest rates will remain elevated for longer. Dot Plot data sees only 2 rate cuts next year. FDX released better than expected earnings last night. An announcement is expected this morning that the writes strike is over. UAW & the Auto makers are nowhere closer to a deal and additional stike action is expected on Friday. Speaker McCarthy indicated that progress is being made on the defense-appropriations bill. Ukraine funding is becoming an issue. European stocks are lower this morning ahead of the Bank of England's interest rate decision. Oil futures are falling this morning as the Fed indicates slower growth ahead.

Congressional republicans are unable to obtain on a consensus on the debt ceiling which is increasing the odds of a government shutdown on Oct 1.
