S&P Futures are slightly positive this morning with tech stocks in focus. Layoffs at Google, NFLX earnings and FDA announcements will all be closely monitored today. Asia closed higher overnight and European markets are higher on optimism about the reopening of China. Fed Governor Christopher Waller is scheduled to speak this afternoon, his comments will likely call for additional rate hikes.

S&P Futures are moving lower and traders remain concerned about a pullback in economic activity. The negative tone in speeches from FOMC members yesterday continue to push the markets lower. Today we have more Fed speak occurring and a host of key earnings announcements and economic data being released. Asian and European markets are lower and oil futures are falling.

S&P Futures are higher this morning. Markets are reacting positive on the outcome of the Bank of Japan's monetary policy meeting. This morning there are a number of economic reports due out, with the Retail Sales report in focus. European markets are flat to higher and oil continues to display gains of more than 1.5% in the pre-market.

S&P Futures are moving lower this morning as the market reacts to a slew of earnings reports being released. Delta Q1 guidance came in lower than expected. HBI delivered positive early 4Q sales guidance and UNH 2023 guidance was a bit light. BK, WFC, BAC, & JPM all delivered eps beats. European markets are higher this morning on positive economic data and oil continues to trend higher on the China reopening.

S&P Futures are moving between gains and losses this morning ahead of this morning's CPI release. Expectations are for the annual consumer-price inflation to have slowed to 6.5% in December from 7.1% in November. FOMC officials are paying close attention to this morning's release as they prepare for the upcoming FOMC meeting at the end of the month. Traders are placing a 78% probability on the Fed raising its benchmark rate target by a quarter of a percentage point to a range between 4.5% and 4.75%. In Asia, stocks were flat to higher, and European indexes are trading higher in anticipation of this report.

S&P Futures are moving higher this morning. Sentiment is positive ahead of tomorrow's CPI release. Traders will be looking for more evidence that inflation is continuing to slip and will thus allow the Fed to ease monetary policy soon. Markets in Asia closed higher, European stocks are showing gains and oil is higher in the pre-market. Airline stocks are lower this morning. Flights in the U.S. are grounded due to a failure in the FAA pilot notification system.

S&P Futures are moving lower this morning. There are no significant earnings reports or major economic releases due out this morning and without a catalyst, markets tend to drift lower. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is speaking today at the Sveriges Riksbank International Symposium on Central Bank Independence in Stockholm, Sweden. His comments will likely be carefully scripted to avoid any hints as to when the interest-rate increases will stop. Inflation does appear to be slowing and Thursday's CPI release will likely provide FOMC members enough evidence to stick with a 0.25 rate hike at the next meeting.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning as global markets are positive on China reopening its borders. As a result, oil is trading 3% higher and European / Asian stocks are higher. The week ahead is light for economic reports, however, Fed Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to speak tomorrow and on Thursday there is the CPI release.
