S&P Futures are flat to higher this morning ahead of today's nonfarms payrolls report. Markets are anticipating an increase by 202,000 in December with the unemployment rate holding steady at 3.7%. The dollar has risen to a 4 week high ahead of the payrolls figure. European exchanges are flat to higher and oil is lower this morning.

S&P Futures have turned higher after showing some early morning weakness. It's a key day for employment data with 2 jobs reports due out before the market opens. Later today, James Bullard of the St. Louis Fed is due to speak. Historically, Bullard's speeches are market-moving as he typically breaks from the majority with highly negative comments on the economy.

S&P Futures are pointing to a higher opening this morning. Gains in Asia and continues weak inflation data out of Europe are setting the stage for a higher opening today. On the Economic calendar today the market will be paying attention to the release of the Fed's meeting minutes this afternoon. Oil futures are down over 2% this morning in pre-market trading.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning. This morning markets will be paying attention to the Jobless Claims and EIA oil stockpiles reports today. Jobless Claims are expected to come in at or near 225k for the week ending 12/24. Oil is pushing lower this morning as rising infection rates in China are causing oil traders to reassess demand expectations.

Markets continue to positive towards China's sudden decision to abandon its zero-tolerance policy, however, the near-term expectations are for global infection rates to start climbing higher. Shares of TSLA are higher this morning after losing more than 11% yesterday. European markets are mostly higher, and gains in commodities are benefitting the FTSE index.

Shares of TSLA remain weak as the company suspends production at its Shanghai plant on Saturday.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning. There are two important economic releases scheduled for today. This morning PCE and Durable Goods reports are expected to set the tone for the markets today. The PCE price index is set for release, alongside personal income and consumer spending data. Core PCE is expected to have climbed 0.2% for a second month. Oil prices are trading 1.5% higher this morning as Russia indicates production cuts.
